Cookie notice
1. Introduction
1.1 This Cookie Notice explains how [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (“4walls”, “we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies on the 4walls Service. It forms part of, and should be read with, our Privacy Policy.
1.2 A “cookie” is a small text file placed on your device by a website. “Local storage” is a browser facility that allows a website to store data on your device. Together these are referred to as “storage technologies”.
2. Our approach
2.1 We use only storage technologies that are strictly necessary to provide the Service you request — signing in, keeping you signed in securely, and remembering basic interface choices.
2.2 We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, social-media pixels or analytics cookies. Our first-party analytics does not set any cookie (see the Privacy Policy, Section 4.2).
3. Storage technologies we use
| Name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
4w_session | First-party cookie (HttpOnly; SameSite=Lax; Secure) | 30 days | Keeps you signed in. Contains a signed session token (email, expiry and session version). |
4w_oauth | First-party cookie (HttpOnly) | 10 minutes | Protects the Google Sign-In process (OAuth state and PKCE verifier, and any invitation or share reference) during the redirect to and from Google. |
4w_splash | First-party cookie (not HttpOnly) | Up to 60 seconds; cleared once read | Displays a one-time welcome screen after sign-in. |
4walls:tapped:<listingId> | Local storage | Same calendar day | Prevents a contact-button tap on a Listing being counted more than once per day. |
4walls-feed-layout | Local storage | Until you clear it | Remembers your preferred feed layout (for example classic or compact). |
4. Third-party storage
4.1 Cloudflare. Our content-delivery and security provider, Cloudflare, may set its own cookies (for example, for bot detection or security) when you access the Service. These are not set by our application code, and we do not control their names or durations. Please refer to Cloudflare's own cookie documentation for details.
4.2 Google. When you use Google Sign-In, you interact with Google's pages, which may set Google's own cookies under Google's policies.
4.3 Hotlinked content and maps. Listing photographs (loaded from Source Site servers) and map tiles (OpenFreeMap / OpenStreetMap) are requested directly by your browser from those providers. We do not intend those requests to set cookies, but those providers' practices are governed by their own policies.
5. Managing storage technologies
5.1 Because the storage technologies listed in Section 3 are strictly necessary, they are not subject to an opt-in banner. You may block or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings; however, if you block 4w_session or 4w_oauth, you will not be able to sign in.
5.2 Signing out removes your session cookie. Deleting your Account invalidates all sessions.
6. Changes and contact
6.1 We will update this Cookie Notice if we change the storage technologies we use. Questions may be sent to [email protected].
